The Archives Welcomes Mail and E-Mail Requests
For mail requests please send a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope to our address. There is a minimum $20 fee for a search up to 1/2 hour. Each additional 1/2 hour is $25.00. There is a charge of $0.25 per page of requested documents. We will inform you of our search results and the fee required to obtain documents. Please do not send money until we answer your request. We will not answer mail requests if you do not provide a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Do not telephone your request. The Archives has had problems with the local post office delivery, if you do not receive your request please email the Archives.
E-Mail requests to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will inform you of the fee by e-mail.
Limit your request to five items (such as a will, marriage, or lawsuit).
Our staff cannot perform research on your family, but is happy to supply any specific items that you request. General letters requesting “everything you have on the Wilson family” or “the names of my great grandparents” will not be researched.
We will search the indexed records only. Include your full name and address in the text of your letter or email. Provide all pertinent information regarding your request (i.e. record type, name, date, and place).
When you place your request we will perform a search for the record requested, provided that all the steps above are followed. Please allow up to 2 weeks for your request to be processed. The Sumner County Archives does not invoice, fax or email documents. Payment must be made in advance for copies. Check or money order are acceptable forms of payment. Once the Archives has received your payment your copies will be mailed to you. The Sumner County Archives is not able to accept debit or credit cards. There is a $20.00 fee for returned checks.
